Lakewood Township is located in Ocean County, New Jersey, and is home to The Historical Strand Theater. The Strand Theater was designed by legendary architect Thomas W. Lamb in 1922. Lamb designed the theater to maximize the quality of sound coming from the stage. Renovated in 1993, the theater remains a historical staple for the community. Another popular attraction in Lakewood Township is the Sister Mary Grace Burns Arboretum which contains within it a Formal Garden, a Founders' Grove, an Italian Garden, a Japanese Garden, and a Sunken Garden. Among this township's highlights are more than a dozen playgrounds that include softball and soccer fields, volleyball and tennis courts, and exercise and bike trails.
